• BIOPOLICY: Biodiversity and Nature Index - understanding, adaptive planning, and economic policy means for management of open lowlands and forests

  BIOPOLICY is an interdisciplinary project with the purpose of analyzing appropriate economic policy means for biodiversity protection in open lowlands and forests, with biodiversity targets specified in the context of the Nature Index for Norway.

• CLIMATE-LAND

  CLIMATE-LAND studies ecosystem services from carbon sequestration in forest and semi-natural cultural landscape, with trade-off and synergy between climate policy and biodiversity, and contributes to research on UN experimental ecosystem accounting

• ECONOR – The Economy of the North

  The purpose of the ECONOR project is to provide an updated overview of economy, living conditions and environment in the circumpolar Arctic, with data and knowledge provided by the circumpolar ECONOR network of statisticians and researchers.

• Natural resource wealth and ecosystem services

  The purpose of the project is to further develop and apply the research expertise of Statistics Norway on natural research wealth and ecosystem services, in interdisciplinary cooperation with other research institutes and government agencies.

• SMART PATHS - Smart paths and costly detours towards a sustainable low-emission society

  Norway can choose different routes to the low-emission society. SMART PATHS aims to distinguish smart paths from costly detours. Smart climate strategies avoid lock-in in fossil fuel-dependent technologies and behaviour and are robust to changes in global surroundings. A smart climate strategy also includes careful surveillance. For that purpose, we will develop transformation indicators for monitoring and facilitating adjustments of the path to a low-emission society.

• Sustainable development indicators (SDI) in the context of the precautionary principle

  The project aims at strengthening the sustainable development indicators by establishing early warnings based on expert opinions on uncertainty and critical developments and the need for immediate action. The objective is to integrate the precautionary principle into sustainable development analysis in situations where there are uncertain and potentially serious consequences for the environment and other societal concerns.

• URBAN-EEA: Experimental ecosystem accounting for urban ecosystems

  The purpose of the URBAN-EEA project is to study ecosystem services from urban ecosystems in the Oslo region, as decision support. The project contributes to research in Statistics Norway on the experimental ecosystem accounting proposed by the UN.

• VALUECHANGE: Valuation of Cultural and Environmental Goods for Integrated Assessment and Decision-making: From Promise to Practice

  This interdisciplinary project aims to assess, value and integrate the importance (values) of cultural and environmental goods - in particular cultural ecosystem services, including biodiversity, and cultural heritage in a broad sense - for social welfare in a rural-urban context.
