More than 7 per cent increase in retirement pension payments

Statistics on the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) show that the expenditure on pension benefits increased by more than NOK 8 billion last year, to NOK 121 billion in 2010. From 2006, the expenditure on pension benefits increased by 33.5 per cent.

The number of old age pensioners increased by 2 per cent from 2009 to 2010. A total of 663 800 persons received a retirement pension in 2010. From 2006 to 2010, the number increased by almost 5 per cent.

NAV increased the working budget by NOK 160 million in 2010. Since 2008, the working budget has increased yearly by approximately 1.6 per cent and this indicates a stable level.

From 2009 to 2010 there was a decrease in the number of contracted man-years adjusted for long-term leave by nearly 3 per cent in the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration, to 12 170 man-years.

In March 2010, work assessment allowance replaced medical rehabilitation allowance, occupational rehabilitation benefits and time-limited disability benefits. A total of 174 000 persons received a work assessment allowance in 2010.

Since 2006 there has been a decrease of nearly 40 per cent in the number of recipients receiving cash-for-care benefits. A total of 32 100 persons received cash-for-care benefits in 2010.
