About the Project

A key to our proposed research projects is that the DI system in Norway randomly assigns judges to DI applicants whose cases are initially denied. Some appeal judges are systematically more lenient, which leads to random variation in the probability that an individual will get onto DI. Using the variation in DI receipt that is generated from the random assignment to appeal judges, we aim at identifying causal relationships.
